FAQs
What is Pentecost?
To us here in Baltimore (and other places around the world), Pentecost is the Celebration of the birth of the Church. On Pentecost, the Holy Spirit descended on individual followers of Jesus as they were gathered together in Jerusalem. This gathering became the first Christian church. New believers in Jesus were baptized. They, along with the first followers of Jesus, shared life together, focusing on teaching, fellowship, breaking of bread, and prayer. They shared their belongings so that no one was hungry or needy. As these first Christians lived out their new faith together, “the Lord added to their number those who were being saved” (Acts 2:47). Thus, we speak of Pentecost as the birthday of the church.
So, we celebrate what has happened, what is happening, and what WILL happen… now that the Church is empowered by the Spirit of our Lord Jesus Christ.
What type of service is this?
The gathering is a multi-church, multi-lingual, multi-ethnic, and multi-economic. In other words, an expression of the diversity of Baltimore and the Kingdom of God. Once you arrive, you will be greeted by sisters and brothers who are in a spirit of celebration. You will hear songs sung in multiple languages, Scriptures read in multiple languages, prayers prayed in multiple languages, and receive an inspirational teaching of the importance of our obedience to our Lord Jesus Christ and His Spirit. Praise the Lord!
where do I park?
Free parking is available in Lots B, C, or D which are located between North Ave and the James Weldon Johnson Auditorium. It’s helpful to plan an extra 5-10 minutes for parking.
What is there for kids?
Your kids are just as much a part of the church as you and I are, so they are more than welcome to join us! We will have dedicated space along the outside aisles for kids to wiggle along with some activities they can partake in.
will this be live-streamed?
Unfortunately, we don’t have the ability to live-stream this service, so if you want to be part of it, plan to join us Sunday, June 8th.
Can I bring a friend?
Yes! The more the merrier!
